Positive Deviance

Finding the outliers who succeed against the odds — not because they have more resources, but because they think and act differently.

15+ Years. Enterprise to Grassroots.

Impact Across the Full Spectrum

Working with Fortune 100 brands, mission-driven startups, and UN-affiliated organizations, I've helped enterprises build environmental commitments that survive strategy cycles and move the needle on measurable outcomes. Not marketing pledges — actual operational change, rooted in what's working on the ground.

The other side of that work is equally important. On the ground in Indonesia, Kenya, the Amazon, and 50+ countries beyond, I've partnered with grassroots teams rebuilding reefs, restoring fisheries, and protecting coastlines with almost no budget — just deep local knowledge and the will to act. Connecting these two worlds is where the most durable impact lives: enterprises gain field-tested intelligence they can't get from reports, and grassroots teams gain access to strategy, resources, and amplification they'd never reach alone.

The ocean doesn't need more people mourning its loss — it needs more people celebrating its resilience and fighting for its future. Hope isn't naive. It's strategic.

Environmental Focus Pillars

Seven areas where I concentrate my expedition work, storytelling, and consulting — each aligned with the UN SDGs and grounded in what I've witnessed working in the field.

Natural Resource Management

Fisheries reform, anti-deforestation initiatives, and combating wildlife trafficking. I document communities that have turned the tide on resource extraction through local governance and alternative livelihoods.

SDG 14, 15

Pollution & Waste Management

Water contamination, air quality, solid waste, noise pollution. From plastic-free islands in the Pacific to zero-waste fishing communities in Southeast Asia, I spotlight the solutions that actually scale.

SDG 6, 11

Natural Environment & Habitat Protection

Marine protected areas, biodiversity corridors, ecosystem restoration. I've seen what happens when communities take ownership of their protected areas, and it works better than any top-down decree.

SDG 14, 15

Tourism & Community Development

Capacity building, sustainable infrastructure, community-owned tourism. The best conservation projects I've documented are the ones where tourism dollars stay in local hands.

SDG 8, 11

Sustainable Food Systems

Aquaculture innovation, food technology, permaculture. From traditional Maori ocean gardening in New Zealand to cutting-edge seaweed farming, these are the food systems that can feed us without destroying us.

SDG 2, 12

Climate Resilience

Disaster preparedness, emissions reduction, renewable energy transitions. I work with communities on the front lines of climate change who are building resilience rather than waiting for rescue.

SDG 7, 13

Nature-Based Solutions & Innovative Tech

Ecosystem restoration at scale, AI and sensor networks for monitoring, hybrid approaches that combine indigenous knowledge with modern technology. The future of conservation lives at this intersection.

SDG 9, 13

Values

Do the Right Thing (Even When It's Hard)

We follow conviction. That means choosing what's right over what's easy, even when it's uncomfortable. Our decisions are guided by what we've seen firsthand, what the data tells us, and what's needed most for people and planet—not what looks good from the outside.

Consciously Explore

We go to the edges without leaving a trace. Every expedition we take is anchored in care—for the ecosystems we step into, the people we meet, and the stories we share. We travel light, stay humble, and always aim to give more than we take.

We're Not Journalists (On Purpose)

We're not chasing headlines—we're surfacing blueprints. While our work shows up in media, we aren't traditional reporters. We focus on positive deviance: the outliers solving the climate crisis in unexpected ways. This isn't news, rather case studies that work and can be scaled.

Non-Extractive By Design

Our work doesn't take—it gives. Whether we're in the field, behind the lens, or drafting strategies, we lead with respect. We amplify frontline voices, honor lived experience, and co-create in a way that's grounded in trust—not spin or spectacle.

Progress Over Perfection

We're not climate perfect—no one is. But we show up anyway. We offset what we can, stay honest about what we can't, and keep moving forward. Because it's not about flawless execution—it's about momentum, action, and learning as we go. We always aim to be better with the knowledge and insights we are armed with.

Problem-Solving With Grit

We take on big, messy challenges. And we do so with urgency, creativity, and the right partners. We turn complexity into motion. We don't wait for the perfect plan. We build what's needed and move the needle, one bold step at a time.

Let Communities Lead

Real change does not necessarily come top-down. It comes from within. We work alongside Indigenous and First Nations leaders, grassroots organizers, scientists, and locals who know the places we go best. Our job is to listen, amplify, and follow their lead, now and always.

Forge Real Connections

Relationships power everything we do. We prioritize our people—those we work with, partner with, and stand beside. We show up with support, share resources when we can, and hold the door open for others. Always generous. Always grounded.

We Love to Push to the Edges

We live on the edge—of ideas, of geography, of what's been done before. Whether we're in the wild or inside a system, we push boundaries with purpose. We ask harder questions. We blur the lines. Because at the edge, we believe sits the truth.

We're Rebels With a Cause

We speak up. We show up. And we back it with action. We don't follow rules because they exist—we follow what's right. We challenge the status quo to protect what we love. Because we're not here to play it safe. We're here to build the future we're all waiting for (and all deserve.)
